The Team at P & D Environmental Ltd have been privileged to have been involved in the work to stabilise Whaley Bridge Dam working alongside specialist team from the emergency services, The RAF and Kier, we have been involved in the fabrication and installation of bespoke floating Pump cages to house the 12-inch pumps that have been installed to drain the water from Toddbrook reservoir.
Following a Joint site visit on Sunday morning with our sister company The Pontoon and Dock Company and Main contractor Kier, We designed, fabricated and had the first unit installed by Tuesday evening with the other two units being installed shortly afterwards.
These floating units will allow the pumps to be positioned within the reservoir in such a way that the water level can be reduced without the need for the pumps to be relocated as the level decreases with the ability to access the pumps should it be required.
The units will remain in place to control water levels inside the reservoir until a long-term solution can be implemented keeping the residents of Whaley Bridge safe.
